Srinagar, Sept 18: Jammu and Kashmir Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against unknown National Conference workers following an alleged attack on Sugra Barkati and her supporters in the Beerwah area of Budgam district.
According to news agency Kashmir Dot Com, Police Station Beerwah has registered FIR No. 109/2024 under Sections 126(2) and 351(2) of BNS. The police have named unknown workers of the National Conference in the FIR.
Pertinently, Sugra, the daughter of jailed Sarjan Ahmad Wagay, also known as Sarjan Barkati, claimed her supporters were assaulted and campaign vehicles vandalized during campaigning in the Beerwah constituency on Tuesday evening. Barkati is contesting as an independent candidate from the Ganderbal and Beerwah assembly segments, and her daughter is leading the campaign for her.

A viral video showing Sugra fainting has invited widespread condemnation from various political leaders, who have called for an investigation. However, the National Conference denied the allegations and requested a thorough inquiry.
